In 1984 his first solo album, 'Herbs on the Heart', was released by FELLSIDE to great critical acclaim. In the intervening years, he has produced a dozen more albums including 'Thunderwood' with accordionist, Chris Parkinson; 'Town in Time', a musical history of his hometown, Middlesbrough and 'Eye of the Wind', the tale of the world renowned explorer James Cook, produced for radio by the BBC with Sir David Attenborough narrating.
Richard Grainger lives in Whitby, North Yorkshire. As well as a prolific writer and performer, he's a great ambassador, educator and promoter of folk music, culture and tradition.
