When this news gets out, it will undoubtedly excite festival connoisseurs, live music lovers and aspiring musicians in andaround North Yorkshire!
Solid Entertainments is delighted to announce that Whitby Blues, Rhythm & Rock Festival 4 will be taking place at Whitby Pavilion on Sunday 2nd October 2016!
As this is our fourth year in Whitby, we wanted to showcase the quality of live music in the UK and present a line-up with at least one legendary name............plus a surprise or two. We think we have achieved this with Climax Blues Band headlining and five other very different sounds in the line-up, this is sure to be a great days entertainment and one festival not to miss!
Climax Blues Band has had huge selling albums like FM/Live and Gold Plated, the 1976 hit single “Couldn’t Get It Right” (from Gold Plated) and “I Love You” in 1981, their reputation carrying right through until the tragic death of founder member Colin Cooper in 2008. Colin’s death could have meant the end of the band, but his desire was for the band to continue creating the fine blues blend that they have been associated with since their formation.........Colin’s desire has been accepted with relish by the remaining members of the band.
This solid unit has flown the Climax flag with tremendous passion and style; the spring in their step is taking the band forwardand pleasing crowds throughout Europe. The ‘seamless’ transition in carrying on creating the unique Climax sound is the result of hard work, disguised by a band having a great time making music….
This year's full line-up comprises of:
Climax Blues Band
it’s been a long road…..but one things for sure, the Climax Blues Band of today carries the same standard of quality as it did when the band formed back in the late 60s! Paul Lamb And The King Snakes - Paul Lamb is known by aficionados and music press around the world as a foremost blues harmonica exponent and is a true gentleman of the blues!
Kyla Brox
turning up the heat by degrees, lulling and charming before unleashing emotional catharsis, Kyla's authentic voice remains a stunning example of the soul singer's art! Del Bromham's Blues Devils - Del Bromham is best known for his work as singer/guitarist/songwriter for the now legendary UK band Stray, so expect a powerful show from this very special line-up! Blue Swamp Band - Johnnie Williamson from The Animals and Mike Bowden from Dr Truth are two artists that gel so well together, creating a great sound peppered with trademark humour!
Mick Simpson
initially coming to public notice when playing with Elkie Brooks in the 1980s, Mick has written music with John Parr (St.Elmo's Fire), that was featured in several Hollywood movies! With this calibre of artist stepping on stage, festival goers can expect to see top class live performances and hear a range ofincredible sounds with sets that incorporate a creative mix ofBlues, Rock and R & B, with a contemporary take on one or two classic songs!
