To sustain a healthy relationship, it’s important to have things in common. Max Vatan (Brad Pitt) and Marianne Beausejour (Marion Cotillard) happen to share the same job description: assassin.
It’s 1942 and Europe is rife with conflict. Allied troops are fighting the Germans on the beaches, in the air, on the sea…and behind a precarious curtain of elite espionage.
Marianne is a French resistance fighter who has been sent to Casablanca to take out a high-profile German official. Max has travelled all the way from North America to North Africa with the same objective. The two meet and fall in love amidst the danger and deception. The rest, it seems, is history.
But the war rages on, following them beyond the shores of Casablanca and all the way to the streets of London.
As conflict at home and abroad begins to threaten their relationship, Max and Marianne begin to learn that it’s hard to start a new chapter when the world seems to be tearing itself apart.
Drawing inspiration from the best of film noir, and injecting modern colour into the drama and suspense, Academy Award winning director Robert Zemeckis (Forrest Gump) adds another future classic to his resume.
Allied boasts an all-star cast, including Pitt (Inglorious Basterds), Cotillard (La Vie en Rose), Lizzy Chaplain (Cloverfield) and Matthew Goode (The Imitation Game).
