Sam Gleaves play The Coliseum, Whitby

  • 2017-08-03 19:00:00

When We Love is the new single by Sam Gleaves & Tyler Hamilton. It’s taken from the brand new album from the pair, out this month.

Sam plays his first ever solo UK tour this summer when he plays the following dates :

30th  July : Cambridge Folk Festival

31st July : Half Moon, Putney, London

1st August : Factory Street, Bradford

3rd August : Coliseum, Whitby

4th August : Tan Hill, Swaledale

2016 saw Sam Gleaves release his UK debut with his new album and single Ain’t We Brothers as well as supporting Peggy Seeger on UK dates. He made quite an impact, with BBC Folk radio support from all around the UK and he has just completed a print feature interview for the next issue of Rock n Reel magazine. Mike Harding hailed the album as “One of the most beautiful albums I have heard in the last ten years”

Born and raised in WytheCounty in southwest Virginia, Sam Gleaves performs innovative mountain music with a sense of history and has now joined forces with Tyler Hamilton to release their eponymously titled album on June 16th via Community Music.

Bonny ‘Prince’ Billy choose Sam as his Resistance track in The Guardian this Spring and Sam plays the following UK dates this summer :

Ain’t We Brothers was Sam's debut record of original songs, released in the US in November, 2015. Produced by Cathy Fink, AIN’T WE BROTHERS also features guest artists Janis Ian, Tim O’Brien, Laurie Lewis, Marcy Marxer,  Tyler Hughes and others.

“If a remake of ‘O, Brother!’ is made some decades from now, it is quite likely that Sam Gleaves will be standing where Ralph Stanley stood."

Gaye Adegbalola, Blues Woman, Blues Music Award Winner.

"Courageous as hell and country to the bone. Varied, intelligent, moving…these songs stay with you."

Lee Smith, novelist, Queen of Appalachian Literature

“A stunning first album . . . surprising from a 23 year-old still refreshingly wet behind his commercial ears.  I keep very few albums that I’m given.  This one’s a keeper.”

Peggy Seeger, Folk Singer and Songwriter.
