Whitby Film Society presents "The Eagle Huntress," a documentary following Aisholpan, a young nomad girl from the ALtai mountains of Mongolia, as she trains to become the first female in her family to become an eagle huntress. This takes place within a society where many old kazakh eagle hunters vehemently reject the idea of a girl taking part in their ancient tradition. Aisholpan's father, Nurgaiv, believes that a girl can do anything a boy can as long as she is determined, and gains the endorsement of his own family to maintain the family tradition.
Filmed against the background of the dramatic Altai mountains in Mongolia, this is an uplifting documentary about a young girl's desire to succeed in a very challenging environment.
