Whitby Film Society presents "Neruda," a film by Pablo Larrain. It is 1948 in Chile and President Gonzalez has outlawed Communism, and famous politician and poet pablo Neruda is on the run. Although the President found it expedient to be chasing this troublesome communist, he did not want the embarassment of actually catching and jailing an international celebrity. Oscar Peluchonneau, a determined but bumbling police inspector is put in charge of this politicised pseudo-chase in an unlikely, often surreal and incredibly entretaining film.
