Nominated four times, and winner in 2015, of Musician Of The Year BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards, Sam Sweeney is
releasing and touring his second solo album Unearth Repeat in March 2020. This sees Sam making music on his own terms, free to explore his creative potential with a stellar line up of his favourite musicians. Joining Sam on this tour are, Jack Rutter (Acoustic Guitar), Ben Nicholls (Double Bass). But perhaps the most remarkable addition to the band is nineteen-year-old Louis Campbell on electric and acoustic guitars, whom Sam met when he auditioned as a sixteen-year-old to join the National Youth Folk Ensemble.
Unearth Repeat celebrates a new direction, not only for Sam but for English instrumental music. Teaming up again with award winning producer, Andy Bell, Sam’s new band are injecting into the tradition something that hasn’t been heard before. The music has the groove and swagger of traditional English music with the huge sound, flare, energy and sound palette more commonly heard within the Celtic and Scandinavian music scenes.
